All proceeds from the event will support outreach and education efforts in Pittsburgh and patients in need during Operation Walk Pittsburgh's 2022 mission to Antigua, Guatemala.
About Operation Walk
Operation Walk is a private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical services organization which provides free surgical care for patients that have no access to life-improving care for arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions. Operation Walk also educates in-country orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals on the most advanced treatments and surgical techniques for diseases of the hip and knee joints. This is done in conjunction with surgeries to help create a lasting contribution to patient care in developing countries.
The Operation Walk Pittsburgh chapter was started by Dr. Tony DiGioia, Medical Director of the Bone and Joint Center at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, in 2009 as an initiative of the AMD3 Foundation. To date, Operation Walk Pittsburgh has completed eleven successful, international missions to Guatemala, Panama, Honduras and Cuba and given the gift of mobility back to over 500 patients in need. The team will return to Antigua, Guatemala in October of 2022 to mark its 12th mission overall, and its 7th to Antigua. Your sponsorship will ensure that Operation Walk Pittsburgh’s vital work will continue to change the lives of patients throughout Central America who so desperately need lifesaving care.
