2021 Travel Team Member Feature: Whitney Patton
We are excited to continue our new blog series! In this series, we highlight members of our incredible 2021 Travel Team who will accompany us during Mission 2021 to Antigua, Guatemala.
Travel Team Members generously volunteer their time, talent, and energy toward our goal: providing the gift of mobility to patients in need. From October 2nd through October 9th, 2021, we will be in Antigua to accomplish that goal.
This year’s trip to Antigua will be our sixth to Guatemala, and our eleventh trip overall. We thoroughly enjoy the time we spend at Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro, our partner hospital in Antigua, which we affectionately call our home away from home. We love the staff there and truly think of them all as family.
Let’s turn our attention to our second featured Travel Team Member, Whitney Patton! Whitney is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as Arcadia University. She earned both an M.S. and a Doctorate degree in physical therapy, respectively. These impressive credentials led her to holding the two very important roles that she does today: a physical therapist and a mom of two. Whitney’s years of professional, physical therapy experience make her a highly valued Travel Team Member.
Whitney is a New York native and thoroughly enjoys spending time with her family. Her partner, Nick, her two teenage kids, and the family cats and dogs keep her very busy.
While Whitney devotes a lot of her free time to her family, she has several interesting hobbies of her own. She enjoys hiking, traveling, yoga, and gardening. The trails near her home provide great hiking opportunities, and she also enjoys Chautauqua Lake in New York. Her favorite place that she has traveled to is New Hampshire, where she stayed in a pioneer wagon on a horse farm.
“Operation Walk Pittsburgh changes lives! I traveled in 2019 and had a great experience. I am looking forward to connecting with a new group of patients this year. I’ve also been practicing Spanish, so I am excited to use what I have learned in Guatemala.” - Whitney
All of our Travel Team Members work hard to meet a fundraising goal, helping to cover a portion of the total cost of critically needed supplies and equipment for Mission 2021. We are deeply thankful for each and every one of our Travel Team Members’ support, including Whitney’s!
Please consider making a donation in Whitney’s name to support her fundraising commitment. Remember, 100% of all donations made to Operation Walk Pittsburgh directly support patient care during the mission. Will you help Whitney reach her fundraising goal?
