2021 Travel Team Member Feature: Chrissie DiVincenzo
We are excited to start our new blog series! In this series, we will highlight members of our incredible 2021 Travel Team who will accompany us during Mission 2021 to Antigua, Guatemala.
Travel Team Members generously volunteer their time, talent, and energy toward our goal: providing the gift of mobility to patients in need. From October 2nd through October 9th 2021, we will be in Antigua to accomplish this together.
This year’s trip will be our sixth to Antigua, and our eleventh trip overall. We thoroughly enjoy the time we spend at Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro, our partner hospital in Antigua, which we affectionately call our home away from home. We love the staff there and truly think of them all as family.
Let’s turn our attention to our first featured Travel Team Member, Chrissie DiVincenzo! Chrissie is a graduate of the Allegheny Health Network Citizens School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. There, she earned a diploma in nursing, which enabled her to enter a career that she loves: direct patient care. The nursing skills and passion that she has for patient care are just some of the elements that make her a great Travel Team Member.
While she spent most of her life in Pittsburgh and returns frequently to see friends and family, Chrissie thinks of herself as a Florida native and now lives in Denver, North Carolina, where she works at a pain management center. She and her husband will be celebrating ten years of marriage this year, and they adopted their (now four year old) son in 2016.
Chrissie devotes a lot of her free time to her son and activities that make him happy, such as visiting the zoo, playgrounds, and a local amusement park. She also volunteers in the children’s ministry at her church. She enjoys staying busy, but also loves traveling and vacationing. Her favorite place that she has traveled is the Grand Canyon.
All of our Travel Team Members work hard to meet a fundraising goal, helping to cover a portion of the total cost of critically needed supplies and equipment for Mission 2021. We are deeply thankful for each and every one of our Travel Team Members’ support, including Chrissie’s!
“This will be my sixth trip with Operation Walk Pittsburgh. It’s an incredibly humbling experience. I’m excited to watch the patients walk after surgery. It’s my favorite part! You know they’re in pain, but they work so hard, and they do it with the biggest smile on their faces because they are just so grateful for this life changing opportunity.”
Please consider making a donation in Chrissie’s name to support her fundraising commitment. Remember, 100% of all donations made to Operation Walk Pittsburgh directly support patient care during the mission. Will you help Chrissie reach her fundraising goal?
